How to read the material data
The material pages compare carbon footprint, density, lifespan and typical use, but a low number is not automatically the right choice. A material must be assessed against function, moisture, fire, structure, maintenance, reuse potential and how long the solution is expected to last in the specific building.
Use the material profiles as a first overview before speaking with an architect, advisor or contractor. In renovation, the interaction between the existing construction, detailing and execution often decides whether the material becomes a good and durable solution.
The pages do not replace project design, but they make it easier to ask precise questions: where does the climate load come from, which alternatives exist, and what should be checked before the material is chosen?
